What Does a Coach do?

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re hungry to get better. You may be a newby just bitten by the endurance bug, or a seasoned vet looking to make it to the next level. Either way, you are driven to be BETTER, and you’ve come to the right place.

All coaching through the Summit Endurance Academy is based around the S.E.A. Four Fundamental’s of coaching:

1. Perspective

2. Direction

3. Support

4. Reflection

When beginning a journey of self-improvement, realism in your goal setting is very important. Without Perspective, it’s difficult to know if a goal is too easy (and thus achieved too quickly to be satisfying and not pushing you to your true potential) or too hard (leading to frustration, burnout, and quitting). Through the use of physical, mental, and lifestyle evaluations, as well as our education and years of coaching experience, we can provide the Perspective to make the BEST goals for your quest of betterment.

Once your goals have been set, the coaches primary role is to provide you the Direction to accomplish those goals. Starting with our in depth goal setting process, we design a program based around YOUR life. Whether you work 80 hours a week, have a family, or are a full-time professional athlete (or all three), we can write a plan to get you the fittest and fastest you EVER been.

After the plan has been written, it’s time for the athlete to turn words into miles. During this period, the coach can carry out a very active role of Support. Whether that means being present at workouts to give feedback on pace, technique, mental strategies, accountability, etc., or answering questions between workouts regarding anything under the sun, Support can be a very crucial part of your improvement.

Following of the completion of a training plan, you’re done right? Time to go sit on the couch? WRONG! If you’re looking for a 2-week crash course on bikini bodies, you’re in the wrong place. An active Reflection step I key to continued improvement. It’s very important for athletes and coaches to sit down after a training period and look at what went well, what could have been done better, and the goals for the NEXT training period!

All support options we have available include different levels of involvement of the Four Fundamentals.
